Teh Kaage! (o'.')-o CHEESY PUNCH!!!
I need to look into the game more, but are classes also faction based? I know classes will be restricted with races, but I am thinking that each faction should have at least 1 race that can play your desired class.
The reason I bring this up is because of EQII and when they introduced PvP. EQII was faction based in that certain classes were restricted to a faction, and certain races were restricted to a faction. But it didn't prevent you from playing with anyone from the opposite faction until they introduced PvP. Then there were class balancing issues (PvP & PvE), the game got all fucked (PvP & PvE), and a simple solution was allow a player to disown their faction and become exiled (PvP). With an exiled guild, you had full advantage of the game because now you could do raids with all available classes. You just suffered by not being able to freely enter the city, which when the level cap was increased, that apparently wasn't a problem anymore. It's been a long time since I've played EQII (since VG hit beta), so I don't really know where the game stands now, but I really don't want to see that shit in Rift.
I am looking forward to rule set servers. I was always hoping VG would open a rule set server for how the original game was envisioned, or even the game as it was in Beta. So that's also a decision to make as a guild: what server do we go to? PVP faction based? PVP FFA? PVE? PVE HARD CORE? RP? (We all know I don't RP very well ever since that one night where the one lady was saying the rats were her babies and then I some how became a rat baby molestor... weird fuckin night....) Not sure what type of servers they are going to have yet, but hopefully we can find something that will make all of us happy.
